About the original Stencil Genie
Hi, I am Ginny, of the Creative Cookier, and after trying several ways to stencil on my cookies with the airbrush I was fed up! I hated sticking the magnets to a cookie sheet and then taking them back off for EVERY SINGLE COOKIE, or worse yet sitting the cookie down, surrounding it by some other cookies and trying to hold on to the stencil and not drag it across the cookie when I was done. Then there was the fact that I wasn’t even great at holding the stencil steady, or using something that didn’t clean up easily, the list goes on and on….
But one day, when looking at yet another idea using popscicle sticks (try cleaning those up after using it a few times by the way!), an idea hit me. Since my hubby Doug and I produce 3d cookie cutters, why couldn’t we make this amazing little gadget that was bouncing around in my head!? So I went to Doug with my plan, (he’s the engineer in the family, and according to him, I am the one with the hare-brained ideas). I wanted a 5.5”x5.5” frame, with built in magnets that you could sandwich your stencil between and then just sit on top of your cookie. But, I also wanted a little more than that, I wanted it to have a 1/4” tall side for thicker cookies and a 3/8” tall side for thinner cookies so you could flip it either way depending on your cookie thickness preference!
We searched out some tiny, but super strong, little magnets and Doug began the task of building my little idea and turning it into reality! By this point he no longer thought it was such a hare-brained idea after all, and he got excited, too. After a couple of tries we had created what we believed would change the way you airbrush on cookies! BUT, I am not the best stencil using cookier out there and I thought, “Maybe I better let a couple of others try this contraption out, just to be on the safe side.” Well guess what? They loved it too! So off to the patent registry we went, with our new idea, and before we knew it we were bringing our newfangled, contraption to all our cookier friends! Thanks to a fun contest and the winner, Joanne Lima, we call it the Stencil Genie.
Since the beginning we have continued to perfect the Stencil Genie and expand on the line of Genie Products for Better baking!
Doug and I hope you will, follow our journey, give our gadgets a shot and see what just what they can do for you! I would love to hear about your experiences!
